Finding a Staph infection is not unusual; veterinarians see Staph infections every day because Staphylococcus bacteria are normal inhabitants of the skin of dogs. Staphylococcus psuedintermedius is one of the resident bacteria in the skin of dogs and a common cause of pyoderma.
When this bacteria acquires resistance to an antibiotic called methicillin, they have been branded “superbugs.”
